Teach SEP (Standards of Effective Practice) courses, content area classes, and other graduate and undergraduate courses, in traditional, online, and/or hybrid settings within the Department of Professional Education. Example courses include (but are not limited to): Foundations of American Education, Educational Psychology, and Pedagogy courses.
Contribute to a collegial and supportive environment that advances the goals of the Professional Education Department, which includes curriculum development, assessment, and other departmental duties.
Perform faculty duties such as, advising graduate and undergraduate students, supervising student teachers, connecting with k-12 public schools, serving on committees, and contributing to a program of scholarship.
Assist the department with CAEP accreditation and Board of Teaching program approvals.
Candidate should anticipate involvement in activities that support Bemidji State University's signature themes of: environmental stewardship, civic engagement, and global/multicultural understanding.
Earned doctorate in education or related field with preparation from a regionally accredited university or college at the start of employment.
Documented expertise in K-12 instruction along with at least two years of K-12 licensed teaching experience in elementary or secondary schools.
Willingness and ability to advise undergraduate and graduate students, and serve on department committees as well as master level research paper/thesis/project committees as advisor, committee chair, member, or graduate representative.
Expertise in one or more of these areas: early childhood education, literacy, special education.
Experience supervising student teachers and supporting them to successfully complete the edTPA.
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
Experience with CAEP or similar accreditation processes.
Experience with supporting students to successfully complete the edTPA.
Knowledge of course management software (e.g., D2L) electronic portfolio management software (e.g., TaskStream) and other instructional technology applications.
Willingness and ability help seek out and establish new students and partnerships in a variety of new markets and venues including domestic and international partnerships.
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with social, cultural, or life experiences with American Indian and/or other ethnic minority groups.
The applicant must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States at the time of an offer of employment.
