Manage all functions related to the successful operation of a Distribution Center (receiving, storage, and shipment of products sold at SAVE-A-LOT). Establish and maintain controls to provide a safe, clean and productive workplace. Ensure achievement of expense budgets and functional goals. Train and develop management staff. Create a positive work environment for all employees through development of proper hiring, orientation, training, and motivational programs. Manage staff to hire, direct, evaluate, and discipline personnel. Manage retail customer relationships as related to distribution services. Manage the maintenance of the operational systems and all material handling equipment of the building. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Develop operational and capital spending budgets.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Manage and direct employees in the operation of a Distribution Center to successfully achieve expense, safety, sanitation, and functional goals.
Monitor, direct the daily activities, and assignments of the Inventory Control Department.
Establish and maintain a positive work environment by managing employee relations, communications, training, and attitudes.
Administer policies, procedures, and work standards.
Ensure corporate compliance, regulatory policies, and procedures.
Support the Inventory Control Supervisor to assure maintenance, compliance of SOX procedures, and controls in the Distribution Center.
Develop management staff and provide training programs for all levels of the Distribution Center employees.
Direct the evaluation of employees and provide performance feedback.
Manage hiring, training, evaluation, performance tracking, and discipline of workforce.
Ensure maintenance of new employee orientation, productivity tracking, and training programs.
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous experience in food distribution production environment preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
Five (5) years management experience in a high volume material handling business.
Proficient computer skills utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a multi-task environment.
Good organizational skills; with ability to manage multiple projects with high level of attention to detail.
Some travel may be required, depending on assigned area.
Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, squat, turn, reach, pull, push, balance and lift objects up to 85 pounds, in a fast-paced environment for extended period of time.
Must be able to transport various objects weighing 20-85 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
Must have the ability to stand, walk and move about for extended periods of time.
Must be able to stand and balance throughout the shift while operating industrial equipment.
Regularly works in warehouse environment with heat and cold, including freezers, coolers and refrigerators in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit.
