We are seeking candidates for a Contract Manufacturing Procurement Manager to join the Florham Park Purchasing team.
This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the development of contract manufacturing solutions for the business units or manufacturing sites. This role works closely with the BASF business units, procurement network and qualified suppliers, to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for third-party contract manufacturing projects. It also coordinates requests with NCM to check BASF internal capabilities and utilize when appropriate. The position could also include responsibilities for procuring raw materials.

Procurement Manager – Contract Manufacturing (1705050) – Florham Park, NJ
Formula for Success: You Will...
Work closely within the Contract Manufacturing Team to collaborate on project activity and share best practices. Continuously identify potential contract manufacturers and innovative production technologies, and assess their capability and potential fit to BASF. Maintain relationships with currently approved toll manufacturers.
Interact with various levels within the Business Unit (e.g., supply chain planners, technology managers, product managers, business managers, business VPs) and the BASF legal team to execute appropriate confidentiality and commercial agreements and BASF technical resources to ensure adequate technology transfer from BASF to third-party contract manufacturers.
Coordinate with BASF EHS resources to maintain approved lists of contract manufacturers and ensure regulatory involvement when needed.
Understand market trends relevant to the outsourced processes and impact on supply availability and pricing of products procured. Partner with R&D, Marketing, and Manufacturing to develop economic and reliable contract manufacturers for new projects or plans.
Work with BASF business units to supplement manufacturing capacity and capability by engaging and maintaining qualified third-party manufacturers to perform a wide range of contract manufacturing unit operations such as blending, grinding, drying, distillation, and chemical synthesis.
Ensure transactions follow BASF Policies and Procedures and legal contract/purchase requirements.
Engage in identification, selection, contract negotiation, and implementation of contract manufacturing projects at third-party contract manufacturers for several BASF business units.
Manage relationships with contract manufacturers at appropriate levels for the selection and negotiation process.
Conduct periodic visits to contract manufacturers with the business unit partners to ensure they meet technical, financial and business requirements of BASF.
Administer existing contracts; monitor pricing mechanisms.
