In this leadership role, you will be accountable for leading a direct team of 8 senior technology professionals who are accountable for our Distributed Hosting and Application Delivery Controller Services. The 8 people are Service Level Owners for the following core Services: Distributed ComputeApplication Delivery ControllersDomain Name Service (DNS) You will be expected to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the team, vendors and key business stakeholders. Specific responsibilities will include the following: Leading the prioritization and decisions for each of the respective Services relative to Security, Stability, Delivery, Finance and PLM Maturing the capabilities and processes related to the core Services Collaborating to proactively ensure Services are capable of handling emerging and future business requirementsProviding subject matter expertise in interactions with partners and customersEstablishing / refining best-practice methodologies for problem resolution in a global, 24 x 7, high-volume, high-availability, critical production environment (based on metrics-based KPIs) Providing leadership to manage demands from projects and technology upgrades including recommendations for vendor tools/solutions and global alignment of networks Mentoring, managing and motivating a high-performing team of senior technology professionals and setting clear priorities to achieve/exceed department goals and KPIs Leading matrixed, cross-functional project teams Participating in war rooms as required Overseeing complex processes based on a combination of vendor, custom solutions and internal resources Supporting adoption of new technologies and tools emphasizing industry best practices for management processes and proceduresWorking through corporate culture with purpose and energy to promote unified approaches
Candidates will possess: 10 + years in the information technology profession, including hands-on experience troubleshooting compute-related issues10 + years working in the Distributed Computing space within a large, global, complex organization Demonstrated technical acumen with Unix, Linux, and/or AIX Knowledge of VMWare, cloud computing (AWS and/or Azure) and compute containers (Docker and/or Kubernetes)Working knowledge of ITIL and Agile methodologies Experience with financials (ie, budgets, ROI, and CBAs) Proven leadership skills, evidenced by the ability to obtain results through cross-functional teams in different geographies and culturesTrack record of cultivating and maintaining long-term successful relationships Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in difficult situations (using proven management principles, practices and techniques)Experience with continuous improvement and operational maturityExcellent communication skills - written, verbal and presentation - from entry to cSuite levels Strong customer-service orientation and negotiation abilities Proven ability to delegate and hold people accountable Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment with often conflicting prioritiesRelevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experiences Desired experiences: Experience in a direct people leadership role History of driving positive organizational change Technology Careers with Optum.
