The Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute (ARM) is a public-private partnership dedicated to advancing new robotic technologies and education to secure national interests and to grow U.S. manufacturing.
Based in Pittsburgh, PA, and co-located with internationally known robotics powerhouse Carnegie Mellon University in Lawrenceville, the mission of ARM is to empower American workers to compete with low-wage earners abroad, create and sustain new jobs, lower the barriers for companies of all sizes to adopt robotics technologies and assert U.S. leadership in advanced manufacturing.
The ARM Institute is searching for a Project Manager. This is a dynamic opportunity in a start-up organization for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. The project manager position is a mid-level role for someone with at least 7 years of experience in management oversight of projects. The successful candidate has experience and credentials to oversee technical sub-awards and education and workforce development (EWD) sub-awards to ARM consortium members under ARM's DoD Technology Investment Agreement. The Project Manager interacts with principal investigators of sub-awarded projects to ensure project deliverables and outcomes are on time and on budget, measures project performance along technical and logistic dimensions and develops mitigation plans when adverse scenarios develop. The Project Manager works with ARM leadership to define and develop best practices, processes, and policy related to projects to ensure alignment with ARM's business strategies and goals. S/he will advise and help support sub-award financial compliance in teaming with ARM's contracts officer and Chief Financial Officer and will ensure compliance of technical and EWD projects in teaming with ARM's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Workforce Officer (CWO), respectively. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer with a dotted line to the CTO.

Your specific responsibilities are as follows:
Oversee ARM's technical projects and education and workforce development projects
Manage project portfolio to ensure that projects are delivered along with their scope, quality, time, and cost as defined in their respective sub-awards
Track budget, deliverables, and outcomes of projects
Conduct periodic assessments of planning, scheduling and budget & risk for projects
Measure project performance along technical and logistic dimensions
Engage project investigators to develop mitigation plans when necessary
Act as the first line of communication for sub-awardees to provide management guidance
Define and develop best practices, processes, and policy related to projects to ensure alignment with ARM's business strategies and goals, in conjunction with leadership
Advise and help support compliance with all aspects of sub-awarded projects, including financial, deliverables, and milestones
Identify broader opportunities (e.g., technology transfer) related to projects as they mature
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
7+ years of direct project management experience
Licensed as PMP-Project Management Professional - Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI); or equivalent
Able to travel to project locations across the U.S
