Sweetwater Authority (SWA) provides safe, reliable water service to approximately 190,000 people in a 32 square-mile service area. The Distribution Department oversees the construction, operating, and maintenance of systems and structures necessary for delivering water to SWA’s customers in Chula Vista, National City, and Bonita. SWA is seeking a Director of Distribution with seasoned professional judgement and effective communication skills. Candidates are sought who have knowledge of the principles, practices, equipment, materials, and standards involved in the repair of water systems; monitoring, control, and dispatching; the construction and maintenance of pipeline systems, service roads, and related structures; and procurement and management of fleet. The monthly salary range for the Director of Distribution is $13,681-$16,629; placement within this range is dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the selected individual. The typical candidate will possess the equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative, supervisory, and managerial-level experience in the operation and maintenance of a complex water distribution system involving substantial planning, scheduling, and supervisory authority is required. Candidates should also possess a Water Distribution Operator, D4 certificate as issued by the State Water Resources Control Board; Water Distribution Operator, with the ability to obtain a D5 with two years of hire.
