The Director of Distributed Scholarship is a senior leadership position responsible for facilitating and executing the strategic vision, and sustainable and effective development and distribution of content through multiple delivery platforms managed by Brownâ™s School of Professional Studies (SPS). The Director joins the Extended Leadership Team at the School of Professional Studies at a moment when numerous strategic outreach efforts expanding the Universityâ™s reach to extended audiences are in development.
Building on resources that already exist within The School of Professional Studies, including BrownX, The Choices Program (which was developed in collaboration with The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs) pre-college online courses for use in high school science education, and other online content, the Director will be a forward-facing leader who cultivates additional relationships with many of Brownâ™s world-renowned centers of research and scholarly excellence (examples: Watson Institute, Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America, John Carter Brown Library, Brown Arts Initiative, Brown Institute for Brain Science, Institute at Brown for Environment and Society, Public Health, Population Studies and Training Center, Data Science Initiative and others). The Director will work with scholars to ensure that the content presented is accessible to a broad public of learners, designed to align to the Universityâ™s core research and expertise, and delivered to global audiences with a variety of learning aspirations and through multiple platforms.
Core areas of focus include:
Building a portfolio of content that showcases the breadth, depth, and relevance of Brownâ™s scholarship to a wide population;
Facilitating the dissemination of Brown University research and expertise to global audiences using multiple delivery methods;
Extending the content and reach of current efforts in pre-college engineering, Choices Program social studies curricula, online undergraduate and executive education courses, BrownX courses, and
Developing and implementing a budgetary model that is self-sustaining and ensures flexibility for innovation.

Select and facilitate the intentional dissemination of Brown University research and expertise to global audiences using multiple delivery methods. (30%)
Cultivate and manage an interdisciplinary team within SPS to develop content and delivery platforms (20%)
Develop and implement a budgetary model that is self-sustaining and ensures flexibility for innovation.(20%)
Bachelorâ™s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience in strategic curriculum design, development and delivery or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Masterâ™s degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with established and emerging faculty and scholars.
Understanding of technology and digital pedagogy in teaching and learning;
Evidence of knowledge in using multiple delivery methods in support of teaching and learning.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.

Experience with project management and project management software preferred.
Complete working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required, Excel preferred; Google tools.
