Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Management or related field and a minimum of two years of relevant technical experience in equipment distribution and/or inventory management (preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting) or equivalent combination of education and experience, previous supervisory experience, excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, time management, computer, and organizational skills required. Management experience in a unionized environment strongly preferred.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Assistant Director of Distribution is responsible for the daily operation of the Central Distribution Department, and all associated staff and managers. Duties include, but are not limited to, responsibility for the delivery of all medical supplies to all the clinical areas in the hospital, clinics, and other patient care areas with more than 200 inventory locations daily, and developing a cohesive management team with a common purpose and improving service delivery. The Assistant Director will also be charged with supporting the new supply chain paradigm, working with the management team to set employee and performance standards, address personnel issues, develop quality improvement programs to improve our customer service and streamline materials handling, develop training programs and programs to continually motivate staff, develop budgets and capital needs, and set coverage schedules and ensure they are properly staffed and perform various other administrative responsibilities. In addition, the Assistant Director will routinely assess department performance through daily rounding, discussions with nursing unit managers and various other approaches, develop and implement performance metrics and measurements for evaluating overall department performance, routinely assess these metrics and adjust operations as necessary to achieve desired outcome, collaborate with the Value Analysis program on trialing and implementing new products, review daily orders in Lawson as necessary to ensure the timely and efficient ordering of replenishments for Distribution, and ensure a robust and accurate approach is developed and implemented for preparing emergency and other supply carts.
